Tim has a BA in English and Theatre Studies from the University of North London, an MA in Performance Research from Central School of Speech and Drama and he is currently working towards a PhD at Lancaster University. He gained his 50m swimming badge, and an "I can tie my shoelace" award from Polam School in Bedford.

Some of his income comes from teaching at higher education institutions and, aware of the neoliberal instrumentalisation of tertiary education, he is also an active member of the Free University of Liverpool, a pedagogical protest against exhorbitant tuition fees.
