Rather than wanting to position gift as directly oppositional to capitalism, and by wishing to explore generosity in a more nuanced way than that suggested by ideas of selfish altruism, Tim sees the act of giving as a useful tool with which to examine many aspects of his life and art practice.

He has utilised notions of gift in his work as a solo artist, collaboratively, and as curator, and is currently undertaking a practice-based PhD exploring economies of generosity at Lancaster University.
